Secretary

Generally, the Secretary is in charge of the website, newsletter, and taking pictures/notes at the meetings. If our club ever became larger or had more technically-knowledgeable members to draw from, then the role could be split into two.

It helps tremendously if the Secretary is technically oriented. At this time, I suggest using:

• Microsoft Publisher to create the content since it has nice image, layout, and template features
• Acrobat PDF as the delivery mechnanism for the actual newsletter
• Drupal (or some other content management system (CMS) for the website)

There are many recurring tasks each month that should be performed by this role.

• Website
  • Draft content
  • Choose/size pictures
  • Proof copy (a generous spouse can do this)
  • Send out the email for the meeting
  • Visit Kinkos
  • Stuff envelopes
  • Visit the post office if the meeting date is a week or less away
• Newsletter
  • Put pictures on the website
  • Put the newsletter on the website
  • Respond to or forward requests that come in through the website
  • Handle requests for new accounts, including ones that are bogus attacks over the internet
