February meeting pictures have been added to the website Image Galleries.

The February CICAAW meeting was held at the Zionsville Boys and Girls Club. We had a demo by Jim Dupler on piercing techniques.

Our next meeting is on the second Saturday, March 13th at 9AM, at Don Skiles' Shop. It will be an all-day demo, with pitch-in lunch.

Indiana Blacksmith Association Demo Day

The Indiana Blacksmith Association (IBA) is putting on a woodturning-related day of events. All CICAAW members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The event's host, Gerald Williams, is a member in both organizations.

Events:

Metal Spinning & Tool Forging: Dale Miner will be demonstrating metal spinning on a wood lathe. Dale is a woodturning in the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild (OVWG).
Turning Tool Forging: The IBA blacksmiths will demonstrate tool forging, annealing, hardening, etc.
Pitch-in Lunch: Bring a dish to share.

2010 Indy Woodworking Show Pictures Posted

2010 Indy Woodworking Show meeting pictures have been added to the website Image Galleries.

The Indianapolis Woodworking Show has gone very well so far! Our booth had crowds of interested on-lookers. There were great conversations and lots of excitement from both young and old. Duane Leach turned a large winged bowl that had a large number of spectators (waiting for a crash...that never came). We had excellent demos running all weekend long. Thanks again to all those that helped plan for the event, setup, staff the booth, tear down, etc. etc.

The February CICAAW meeting will be held at the Zionsville Boys and Girls Club on February 14 at 2PM.

TAW Woodturning Symposium

The Tennessee Association of Woodturners will be hosting their 22nd annual Woodturning Symposium January 29-30, 2010. The symposium will be located at the Radisson Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. The symposium is two full days of demonstrations on Friday and Saturday. There will be a roundtable discussion with the demonstrators on Friday night that will include a slide show. In addition to the outstanding line up of demonstrators there will be an instant gallery, which is composed of turnings from all the attendees. You can bring as many as four of your best or latest works and show them off. The People’s Choice award will be a cash prize of $100.00 to the turned item bringing the most votes.
