Beads on the Lathe

Here is a piece in the process of having beads put on it.

Attentive Audience

Everyone was enthralled with Lee's demonstration. Also note that Doug Bickel is brighter than the rest.

Donated Wood

Ray Miller brought in some wood to donate to the club. (Pssst, don't tell my wife about the walnut...)

Refreshments

Through the magic of volunteerism we had coffee and cookies on hand for the meeting.

Leaping Librarians

Ned Hugus is our new club librarian as Eddie had to step down due to increased responsibilities at work. Ned is going to whip things into shape so if you have an overdue item, expect a large gentleman to be knocking at your door soon.

Special Grind

It's a picture of a special grind Lee put on a gouge. Trust me, it is.

Mystery Wood Bowls

James Purciful brought in a couple of "mystery wood" bowls. There was some nice figure around the knot in the plate.

Demonstrated Beads

Another attempt to capture the bowl beads that Lee demonstrated.

Turning Beads

Lee showed us how to add beads to bowls using various techniques and tools.

Texturing Example

This is supposed to show the texturing effect but doesn't do a good job of it. You know what, just hit the back button now and forget you ever saw this.

Beaded Bowl

The flash washed out the detail, so here's a picture of the beaded bowl with natural lighting.

Fluted Platter

Al Crandall's entry into the fluted bowl contest.

Featured Demonstrator

Lee Ellis put on a great demonstration as always.

Examples

Lee brought in some examples of beads on bowls.

More Texturing

Another of the multitude of effects that are possible with the texturing tool.
